Suggestion : Why not combine a visit here with a walk along the Hereward Way which
passes the Museum ? You can park your car and, when returning after your walk, enjoy
a snack or ice cream in our refreshment hall.

use a taxi or walk.
Walking to the Museum from Ely Station
The Museum is a pleasant walk of almost 5 miles from the station using two Long Distance
Paths and takes in Ely's attractive river frontage, pubs, cafés, and restaurants.
Starting from the station walk south east on the A142 for a short distance to the
bridge over the River Ouse. Pick up the Fen Rivers Way running North at this point.
Follow the Fen Rivers Way for 1.8 miles beside the River Ouse, at this point the
Fen Rivers Way crosses the Hereward Way, this becomes your route. Cross the River
Ouse here using the quaintly named Cuckoo Bridge. Look out for Marsh Harriers, maybe,
even, a Bittern in the reed beds. The Hereward Way follows the old bank of the Ouse
North East into Prickwillow to pick up the River Lark just outside the Drainage Engine
Museum where our welcoming café may be just the thing. The route is marked on the
map found by clicking the button Ely District Map above.
