Vickers Petter 2-cylinder 2-stroke normally aspirated diesel engine from Southery Fen.
Believed to be the only preserved example of this engine type. The distinctive ‘thump’ of the exhaust is only surpassed by the spectacle of ‘lighting-up’ of the blow-lamps which heat ‘bulbs’ to white-heat, necessary to induce ignition when the engine is first started (see photo on the‘Home’ page).
