OPPORTUNITIES FOR VOLUNTEERS
Members come from all walks of life and have a wide range of interests.
Whilst much of our work involves the maintenance and repair of exhibits and building fabric, you most certainly do not need to be an engineer to participate fully in this organization. The majority of our members never touch the engines or climb a ladder yet find satisfaction in providing visitor services and through administrative work.
As an educational charity, the administrative work includes the collating and archiving of documents and other material, for presentation to visiting school parties and researchers (as well as for use on these web pages and in saleable material, employing both printed and electronic media).
We are always looking for additional volunteers to help with the general running of the museum, including serving in the shop and providing refreshments to visitors (particularly when there are special events or coach party visits).
We are constantly on the look out for ways to improve and expand the scope of the Museum.
Over the past three years we have installed interactive information systems which employ touch-screens and we aim to make the best use of new technological innovations as the opportunities present themselves.
To sum up, we are a forward-looking, dynamic and progressive organization, driven by the enthusiasm of its members and we would like to welcome you as a new member of this team.
